How to Keep Your Screen Awake
- Click "Start Keeping Awake"; the browser requests a screen wake lock from the system.
- Pick a duration: 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, or unlimited.
- Click "Stop" when finished; closing the tab also releases it immediately.
FAQ
- Does the screen stay awake after closing the tab?
- No. The wake lock is released automatically when the page closes; browsers never keep it in the background.
- What happens if I switch tabs or minimize the window?
- The browser temporarily releases the wake lock; it is re-acquired automatically when you return to this page — no extra click needed.
- Why not just change the system power settings?
- Nothing in your system configuration changes. Turn it on and off at will — ideal for presentations or borrowed devices. After stopping, the system sleeps as usual.
- Does it consume extra power?
- It only prevents the idle screen-off; screen power draw is unchanged and there is no background activity.
- Which browsers are supported?
- Chrome, Edge and other Chromium-based browsers plus Safari 17+ are supported. Firefox does not support it yet; the page will show a notice.
